President, Georgia Perimeter College
Education is an essential part of development that can never be
second-guessed or overlooked in today’s turbulent times where knowledge
and advancement go hand in hand. In his first year as Georgia Perimeter
College’s president, Anthony Tricoli has worked steadfastly to increase
the number of students who enroll in the two-year program while
improving the graduate rate and increasing the number of students who
transfer to four-year institutions.
“When people ask me [if I] can think [outside] of the box my response
is, ‘what box’? I want our students to be the benefactors of creative
thought inside of the classrooms, in our offices and by our
administrative team. I have a very entrepreneurial approach to
addressing my work on a daily basis. I believe that creativity and
innovation should be rewarded and not extinguished. I’m always looking
for a newer way and better way of providing service to our students,”
explains Tricoli.
Tricoli, who is a product of the community college system, received a
doctorate in higher education, leadership and administration from
Pepperdine University, and brings a wealth of experience to GPC.
Tricoli’s background includes stints as president of West Hills College
in Coalinga, Calif., and director of training and development for
Hughes Aircraft Company & General Motors. “I absolutely love
education. I love what we do, I love what we stand for, and I love what
we are here to accomplish, which is to help others to fulfill their
dreams,” he adds. – jason thompson
