The 2009 Chicago Auto Show has us thinking of our favorite celebrities. They say that you can tell a lot about a person by the car they’re driving. We’ve played on that theory a little bit and decided to show off some of the cooler cars at this year’s show, while paying homage to the stars they resemble. –gavin philip godfrey
Lil’ Wayne
Car: Cadillac Converj
Personality: For a guy who touts himself as the “Best Rapper Alive” the car that’s boasted to be the “Cadillac of electric cars” is the perfect fit. Take vintage design, fuse it with a futuristic style and all of the innovative tools for greatness, then you get the Converj, which brings an entirely new element to the industry.
Beyoncé
Car: Dodge Circuit EV
Personality: Visually, this concept vehicle from Dodge can only be described as fierce. Like Beyoncé’s performance, this car is an easy eye-opener. On the flip side, the lack of concrete information surrounding this all-electric masterpiece is similar to the mystery of Ms. B’s alter ego, Sasha Fierce.
Janelle Monáe
Car: Global Electric Motorcar e2
Personality: Like “Music’s Mona Lisa,” the e2 is a funky, quirky addition to the world of electric cars. While many critics want to deem the e2 has novelty, these Euro-inspired machines continue to defy norms and make believers out of their detractors.
Lupe Fiasco
Car: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Personality: There’s a difference between claiming to be cool and being cool, something both Lupe Fiasco and Chevrolet seem to both understand. If you can keep up with this speedster – or Fiasco’s flow for that matter – then you understand where we see the resemblance.
T.I.
Car: Chevrolet Stingray
Personality: Ever since his trial for weapons charges ended, we’re already seeing a new and improved version of rapper T.I. When these designers and engineers put this incredible vehicle together – a smarter, stronger cry from the 1959 original – they were thinking of an overall change for the better.
