Intended to be a successor to the “Thundercats” TV series, this show mixes intricate animation with a lighthearted sensibility. “Silverhawks” features a group of heroes who are cybernetically enhanced: Tally Hawk, Quicksilver, Blue Grass, Commander Stargazer, the Super Twins Steelheart and Steelwill, and The Copper Kid. These powerfully built champions are pitted against the biggest threat to the universe, Mon-Star along with his team of villains. The episodes don’t break much ground, content-wise, and there are 32 of them on this DVD. That’s over 11 hours of fun for the kids, along with a “New Retrospective” featurette, an original piece detailing the Silverhawks’ evolution, and a teaser from DC Universe’s “Wonder Woman.” –forrest green III
