“Please Come Home for Christmas”– Charles Brown

While many younger listeners may know this song from its innumerable
cover versions, the original is still the best. Written and recorded by
blues legend Charles Brown in 1960, the song briefly rejuvenated the
artists’ career—which had lagged since the rock ‘n
roll revolution of the late 50s made him seem outdated. One of the most
mournful holiday songs, it’s Brown’s lyrics and soulful
delivery that really grab you and it’s been covered by everyone
from B.B. King to The Eagles.
