UGK- UGK 4 Life

Pimp C’s death in December 2007 was a devastating blow to Southern hip-hop fans, but the duo’s final album, UGK 4 Life, serves as a fitting swan song from the Texas pioneers. C and Bun B deliver what the fans have come to expect, slow-rolling grooves and gritty rhymes. The posse cut “Used to Be” is a great South-meets-West banger featuring 8Ball & MJG along with Bay Area legends E-40 and B-Legit echoing “International Players Anthem,” UGK’s 2007 collaboration with OutKast in spirit if not in execution. –todd williams
