Programming Co-Chair,
National Black MBA Association,
Houston Chapter
Paul
Guillory has been the programming co-chair of the Houston chapter of
the National Black MBA Association since April 2007 and he relishes the
opportunity to tout membership in the chapter.
“[It’s]
a prime opportunity for black people – whether they’re MBAs or not – to
come together to network and I feel like it’s very, very important for
us to lift each other up through networking. And the only way we can do
that is show up and let the conversations start taking place and not
being afraid of what happens,” says the affable Guillory.
“I
immediately came in, found something I was good at and joined the local
and national organizations. What’s critical to me is the gift of
service – to give and not expecting anything in return,” says the
devoted father of three adult children – two daughters, Kristen and
Danielle, and son, Jason.
Guillory also serves through motivational
speaking. He established a seminar called Men Empowering Men, to uplift
and mentor black men. “My logic behind it was to put something together
to empower what I figured would be the biggest victims you can find –
and [help them] recognize the fact that we don’t have to be victims.
It’s all in how we believe. I developed it to teach the whole concept
of personal responsibility,” he says –michele fling
