Lawyer in Jennifer Hudson Murder Case Quits
The lawyer representing William Balfour, the suspect in Jennifer
Hudson’s murder case, quit as of Monday, Feb. 23. According to the Chicago-Sun Times,
defense attorney Joshua Kutnick says Balfour couldn’t afford the legal
bills in the high-profile case. A lawyer will be appointed to Balfour’s
case from the public defender’s office.
Rihanna Photo Leak Could Get Chris Brown off
An unauthorized leak of Rihanna’s brutal facial injuries might be
enough to keep Chris Brown out of jail. Gossip Web site TMZ, paid
$62,500 for a photo of Rihanna, which was taken after her alleged
altercation with Brown. A source in the LAPD told the press that
because of the legal ramifications of a confidential piece of evidence
being released that, “Brown, even if guilty, could walk free because of
the unauthorized release of this photo.”
T-Pain Cancels Show After Death Threats
Singer, rapper and label head T-Pain, canceled a recent show in Guyana
after allegedly having his life threatened. A concert promoter said
that he received, “credible death and kidnapping threats” targeted at
the superstar recording artist. According to the promoter, the threats
were made via phone and e-mail. The local authorities are currently
investigating the incident.
Jamaica Makes a Stand on Offensive Lyrical Content
In an effort to fight the glorification of violence and sexual abuse,
Jamaica has instituted an island-wide ban on explicit lyrics. Under the
new regulations, radio and television outlets are prohibited from
playing music that highlights sexual assault, gun violence and murder.
Additionally, local deejays are not even allowed to play censored
versions of the songs. The new laws will have a dramatic effect on
dancehall, a genre notorious for its anti-gay sentiments and
objectification of women.
