In Aspen, Colo., this spring, there will be a “best weed” contest and festival — and it’s state approved. The “Western Slope Cannabis Crown” will host over 50 state-approved growers that will be showcasing their wares to earn the title of “people’s choice” in weed (now, by “people” do they mean the infirmed? Just asking …). The winner will be determined by diagnostically testing the marijuana strains for their THC levels.
Of course, all entrants have been approved by the state to grow and distribute medical marijuana, which will ensure they’re taking the “high” road and avoiding promoting recreational use. Participating growers will also be able to sell to medical marijuana patients.
Cannabis cultivator, Bobby Scurlock, is responsible for the two-day event and has already sold over 1,500 tickets.
It’s always intriguing how federal law and state laws can sometimes contradict one another. Medical marijuana festival … really? Can you see all the chronically or terminally ill really making their way to Aspen to seek the most potent treatment? Sure. –gerald radford
