Who Will Join Kobe and LeBron on the 2010 U.S. Men’s National Basketball Team?

Kobe, LeBron, The reigning kings of the world basketball court, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, were just named to the 2010 U.S. men’s national team.

Many of LeBron’s and Kobe’s announced teammates may be very familiar as they were also on the 2008 U.S. Olympic gold medal-winning squad in Bejing. They include: Denver’s Carmelo Anthony, The Heat’s Dwyane Wade; Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz; Toronto’s Chris Bosh; Orlando’s Dwight Howard; Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets; and Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz.

The latest incarnation of the world’s best basketball squad will also include some alumni from the 2004 class that brought home a disappointing bronze medal: Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns’ Amar’e Stoudemire.

“Just as was the case in 2006-08, the composition of the USA national team will be fluid, and by that I mean there could be additions to this group,” Colangelo said in a statement. “We’ve learned to expect that you may have injuries, there may be special circumstances where players can’t perform, so you need flexibility with regards to the addition and deletion of players in the program.”

Those additions include former world champ Chauncey Billups of the Denver Nuggets; up-and-coming superstar Keven Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder; the Memphis Grizzlies Rudy Gay; and LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trailblazers. Respected Duke University head coach Mike Krzyzewski is reportedly returning for another go-round with the pro players.

“With these 27 players we’ve got a great mix of players who are now experienced in the international game and some of the most promising and exciting players coming up though the USA Basketball program,” Krzyzewski said in a statement.
