NFL Hall of Famer Lawerence Taylor has been under intense scrutiny since being arrested on May 6 for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
Taylor has been charged with third degree rape, and is free on a $75,000 bond. The charges carry a maximum penalty of four years behind bars if he is convicted.
Just hours after the rape allegations surfaced, Nutrisystem dropped the burly former athlete as a pitchman.
“We are shocked and saddened by these very serious allegations against Lawrence Taylor. Based on the severity of these allegations, Nutrisystem has made the decision to sever our relationship with Mr. Taylor effective immediately,” says a rep at the weight loss company.
Nutrisystem has since replaced Taylor’s image on their Web site with San Diego Padres star Matt Stairs, who has lost 230 pounds on the diet. –christian johnson
