Atlanta bred artist B.o.B treated hometown fans to a free concert, sponsored by MySpace Live, HP and Windows 7, on Saturday, July 31, at a packed CenterStage.
Joined by friends like rapper Playboy Tre, and a teen label mate sure to be a singing sensation, B.o.B’s show was truly an adventure. The standout artist performed tracks off his hit album B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray.
A hip-hop, pop and indie-rock artist, B.o.B was really on his game when he performed radio favorite “Nothing on You” and his ode to romance single, “Lovelier than You,” during his guitar set.
As the night progressed, the rapper-singer danced around the stage so wildly that his sunglasses transformed to an eyepatch when he lost a lens, but that didn’t stop him.
The live performance was quite a different experience for a fan like this writer who’s been enjoying the mixtape sensation via her iPod. Missing from the stage were the artists he collaborated with on the CD like Janelle Monae (“The Kids”), groom and label mate TI (“Bet I”), who B.o.B. congratulated on his recent marriage while on stage, and Eminem and Hayley Williams of Paramore (album exclusive “Airplanes II”), but that didn’t affect his fans who stayed throughout the entire show and begged for more when he made his exit.
Fans unable to attend the concert were able to watch a live stream at MySpace.com and syndicated on AllHipHop.com via Ustream. B.o.B.’s performance, deejayed by DJ Knuckles, was a part of HP’s Summer Music Campaign to promote better sounding music. Fans experienced the new HP computers integrated with Beats Audio, which emerged from HP’s teaming up with Dr. Dre. –yvette caslin
