Gucci Mane gave Atlanta area students a final summer party before the start of the 2010 school year this week. Hosted by V-103 radio station and DJ Greg Street at Center Stage, the concert’s theme served as a reminder of the importance of education.
Gucci Mane kicked off his 20-minute set by rapping radio-friendly hits for his teenage audience.
A few of Gucci Mane’s profanity-free songs included “Lemonade,” “Pretty Boy Swag remix,” and a super edited version of “Wasted.” Students where as exuberant as the atmosphere at a homecoming pep rally when Gucci rapped the hooks to Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard in the Paint,” and “O Let’s Do It.”
Before leaving the stage, Gucci Mane advised students to remain focused in school and to concentrate on maintaining high grades, graduating and preparing for college.
Gucci Mane is currently working a new album titled The Appeal. Top-notch producers such as Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean, Pharrell Williams, Zaytoven, Shawty Redd and Drummer Boy will provide production on the album, which will be released in the fall.
“I’ve grown a lot and I think I expressed it really good musically and I just want everybody to hear it and see what they think about it,” Gucci Mane said of his new album. “Because I put a lot of time in it and it’s definitely my best foot forward right now.” –a.r.
