Kanye West Goes on Twitter Rant After MSNBC Criticizes His Tweet to Britney Spears

Kanye West is frustrated again. But this time, he’s right to blame a media outlet for using his name to create a sensationalized story. The issue stemmed from a tweet that West sent to Britney Spears after the pop singer’s “Hold It Against Me” captured the No. 1 single position on iTunes.

West and Jay-Z’s “HAM” earned the No. 2 spot. Once the charts were released, West sent a good-natured tweet to Spears.

“Yo Britney, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z’s single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL. On a serious note I’m truly happy for @BritneySpears,” West Twitted.

MSNBC and several other media outlets suggested that West was attempting to bully another pop singer. West then went on another Twitter rant.

“Just saw that MSNBC said I tried to start a twitter war with Brittany. This s— takes the air out my lungs sometimes from blogs to news reports… enough already!!! All I do is focus on my work. There’s a new lie every day… a new media spin…How can u “let” someone be number one??!! That was the whole joke!!! I know intelligent people know this so bear with me. When I said the comment about Brittney I was giving her props for being #1 not dissing her at all! But stop making it seem that my aim is to hurt or down people! That’s just not my style!”

Although West should have an issue with the media outlets who used his banter to create a sensational news story, he continues to make himself a target of the media by ranting on Twitter. West, at times, should recognize the value of restraint. –a.r.
