Key figures in Atlanta’s entertainment industry were on hand at the W Hotel in Atlanta for BMI’s tribute to producer Polow Da Don. BMI awarded Polow for his musical and humanitarian accomplishments in 2010.

For the second straight year, Polow was named BMI’s Producer of the Year, and he also was named Billboard’s Top R & B/Hip-Hop Producer of the Year.

In 2010, he produced hits for Usher, Jay-Z, R. Kelly, Christina Aguilera and Trey Songz.

Polow also did a tremendous job of giving back to the community. Several days before Thanksgiving 2010, Polow held a free carnival and concert featuring Chris Brown and Keri Hilson at Greenbriar Mall in southwest Atlanta. Polow also gave away 1,000 turkeys to needy families at the event.

After Polow received his award from BMI at the W Hotel, Hilson hosted performances by Interscope artists Timothy Bloom and Lloyd. Hilson spoke about Polow’s contributions to music and the community and how he helped to launch her career.

“Polow Da Don saw something in me,” Hilson said. “He pushed every button to make my project go, and that’s the spark that no one else saw. That’s the thing that no one else could do. Polow has given so many writers and artists hope. He has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. He has done so much for the community and music.” –amir shaw
