Last month, it seemed like another (although minor) feud was about to erupt in the hip-hop world when B.o.B released the Odd Future diss “No Future” in response to a disrespectful line from the group’s front man, Tyler the Creator. But now, B.o.B seems to have put away his lyrical firearms and explains that the disses were all just in the name of hip-hop.
The drama between the two rappers began in February when Tyler released the first single “Yonkers” from his upcoming album Goblin. In the track, Tyler, who’s known for taking shots at music heavyweights, drops the incendiary line, “I’ll crash that f—-ing airplane that that f—-t n—a Bob is in.”
Clearly not appreciating Tyler’s diss, B.o.B responded with the diss track “No Future,” firing off lyrical shots such as, “Body blow, uppercut, I do more than bruisin’ /
Keep f—–g with me and you ain’t gon’ have no future.”
However, B.o.B now seems to have cooled his guns and in a recent interview with The Source magazine, The Atlanta rapper explained that he holds no hard feelings towards Tyler.
“When I initially heard the line, I felt like it was some emcee s—. Honestly, there’s a side of me that’s an artist that’s like, ‘What? You saying my name?’ ” explained B.o.B. “But when you understand the element of it, you understand what the emcee mentality is. I felt like some people perceived it as a shot but I felt like people love to hate. When he said the line, my fans weren’t coming at me like, ‘Bob he’s dissin’ you, he’s dissin’ you!’ I feel like you can take it and make whatever you want to make out of it. I don’t harbor any negative emotion at all. And I feel like with hip-hop now even if something is competitive, as long as it stays productive, and it’s raising the bar for hip-hop music, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
