After a near yearlong wait and a new hit single “Motivation” featuring Lil Wayne, Kelly Rowland is now revealing the title of her upcoming third album, Here I Am, which is finally set to be released this fall.
In a recent interview with billboard.com’s The Juice, the former Destiny’s Child singer explains that the title is a declaration of both who she is as an artist and as a woman.
“I was talking to my product manager,” recalls Rowland, who’s currently working in Los Angeles. “I said I wanted people to know that this is the record, the sound I’ve been working toward … that here I am. And she said, ‘That’s the title.’ It just connected with my heart and the music as well. It stands for everything I’ve gone through and thought about for this record as a woman. It’s very strong.”
For the album, Rowland has worked with a slew of top-notch producers and songwriters including Dr. Luke, Stargate, RedOne, Tricky Stewart and Rodney Jerkins.
For the album’s lead single, “Motivation,” Rowland tapped producer Jim Jonsin and songwriter Rico Love to craft the song, which has now risen to No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, making it her biggest single since her 2002 collaboration with Nelly, “Dilemma.”
Rowland plans to reveal the Fall release date by the end of this week.
What do you think of Rowland’s album title? Will you be buying the new record?
