Shaquille O’Neal to Retire From Pro Basketball

After 19 seasons of playing in the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal is ready put playing in the NBA behind him reports Us Magazine. O’Neal is currently the oldest active player in the NBA and has played for six pro teams: Orlando Magic, the L.A. Lakers, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics. He posted  the news as, “I’m retiring” and “Shaq ooout” via his Twitter.

Although there have been no official retirement announcements from his current team , the Boston Celtics he goes on to say “We did it. 19 years baby. I want to thank you very much,” he said in a video posted to  Twitter on Wednesday. “That’s why I’m telling YOU I’m about to retire. Love you. Talk to you soon.” Wow, talk about throwing in the towel. I guess in his case it’s literal.

In addition to his pro career, O’Neal was married to Shaunie Nelson in 2002 but the couple separated in 2007, got back together, and re-filed for divorce in 2009. They have four children together. As a result Shaunie turned her divorce into a TV show and is producer as well as cast member of VH1’s Basketball Wives. In addition O’neal Has also released four rap albums and starred in his own reality shows, Shaq’s Big Challenge and Shaq Vs. In 2005, he was officially sworn in as a Miami Beach police officer. Dang, just when Hoopz thought she had herself a baller. Anyway, good luck with the retirement Shaq, but please do save your energy and retire for real…there’s only one Michael Jordan…thanks!
