Republican Candidate Calls for Obama’s Lynching

A Republican candidate for the Florida State Legislature tweeted for the hanging of president Obama on the King Holiday. Joshua Black tweeted on the King Holiday:

“I’m past impeachment,” Joshua Black, who is also African American, tweeted on Monday. “It’s time to arrest and hang him high.”

Such language was even more shocking because Joshua Black is African-American making the comment on the birthday of Dr. King.  Several twitter followers then tweeted back with tweets calling his comments “racist, over the top, and a threat to the president”. Still Black was  unrepentant even the day after the post stating that he was invoking free speech and that he had talked to the Secret Service who deemed him no threat to the Obama. Black’s twitter page is full of typical Tea Party ideas. He is for ending food stamps and calls the President a murderer of innocent children. Reaction from the twitter universe has been strong against Black’s comment and political stance so he posted the following statement on Facebook:

“To everyone who was offended that I said that the POTUS should be hanged for treason, this is the man who droned Al-Awaki   on ‘suspicion of terrorism’–not proof–and later killed his 15-year-old son for nothing more than being his son…Obama is trying to have both Bradley Manning and Eric Snowden executed for treason when they didn’t kill anyone. “I make no apologies for saying that the President is not above the people…If ordinary Americans should be executed for treason, so should he.”

“So, don’t stop at impeachment remove him. Try him before a jury (the very right that he arbitrarily denied to al-Awaki and his 15-year-old son), and, upon his sure convictions, execute him.”

Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott called the comments outrageous and other state Republicans were equally disturbed by Black’s comments.
