Lil’ Kim Skips BET Awards to Attend New York’s Gay Pride Parade

Lil’ Kim, who has long been an LGBT rights advocate, showed her support for her gay fans and celebrated the recent passage of New York’s same-sex marriage law by attending the Big Apple’s annual Pride Parade.

According to RapFix Live, On Sunday, June 26, Kim jumped headfirst into this year’s festivities, acting as a ringmaster for her own Asian-themed float. Wearing a black wig, black miniskirt, pink heels and rainbow wristband, Kimmy Blanco entertained the crowd as she danced atop her float and speakers blasted a myriad of songs from her catalog.

Last week, reports claimed that Lil’ Kim would follow most of black Hollywood to the BET Awards as well as work on a peace treaty with rival emcee Nicki Minaj. However, Kim took to Twitter on Friday, June 24, and dispelled the rumors, dissing BET and assuring that she would be attending the Pride parade and performing later on at Latin Quarters nightclub.

“I will Absolutely not be at the BET awards Sunday. I will be on a float at the gay pride parade with my Queens in NYC then at LQ performing,” tweeted Kim.

It’s still unclear whether Lil’ Kim is finally ready to share her royal crown with Nicki Minaj, but thankfully, the Queen Bee is gracious enough to share her crown and her time with her NYC “Queens.” –nicholas robinson
