Waka Flocka Flame Retires, Says He'd Rather Work at Walmart than Rap

Since breaking into the rap industry with the insatiable hit single “O Let’s Do It,” Waka Flocka Flame has been an anomaly. He doesn’t have exquisite rap skills, he often appears incoherent when interviewed, and he often rejects being called a “rapper.”

But Flame was able to gain popularity in hip-hop mainly because of his intriguing personality. Fans never knew what he would do or say, but it was guaranteed to never be a dull moment when he was around.

However, Flame has decided to retire from rap after only three years of pursuing music and releasing one album. On Twitter, he wrote “This game 2 Fake I quite rap after this year.”

His mother and manager, Deb Antney, confirmed the tweet by saying that her son is disgusted with the industry and will stop touring and going to the studio.

Flame recently spoke with Ryan Cameron on Atlanta radio station V-103 and spoke about his retirement.

“I’m tired of going through what I go through,” Flame said. “And punk a–es always rain on my world. There’s so [many] different haters, fake smiles, different hugs. I’d rather work at Walmart than rap, and that’s my word on God. Yup, I put that on Jesus Christ. I’m not lying or nothing. It’s something I could never explain to people because they could never understand it ‘cause they not living the lifestyle. At the end of the day, the people who’s living the lifestyle could understand why I’m doing it.” –amir shaw
