Earlier this year, fans were treated to a shocking surprise when it was reported that singer Monica had secretly married L.A. Laker Shannon Brown in a small and quiet ceremony in November 2010. And now the happy couple is, once again, making headlines after tying the knot for the second time in a larger ceremony for family and friends.
According to PEOPLE, the couple exchanged wedding vows at Vibiana, a renovated 19th century cathedral in downtown Los Angeles, in front of an audience that included celebrity guests such as Lala Vazquez, Carmelo Anthony and teammates Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher.
Monica’s two sons, Rodney Jr., 6, and Romelo, 3, (with ex-fiancé Rodney “Rocko” Hill) and Brown’s son (from a previous relationship) also attended, arriving at the ceremony by horse and carriage.
For the 30-minute ceremony, Monica wore a Stephen Roland gown and guests were asked to wear shades of blue.
After the wedding, Monica and Brown joined their guests for a lavish blue and purple themed reception planned by event planner Mindy Weiss, which featured cocktails and a three-course sit-down dinner at tables adorned with hydrangea and rose centerpieces designed by Mark’s Garden.
Guests were then escorted to tents where they were treated to grilled Fatburger hamburgers.
The second-time newlyweds met last summer on the set of Monica’s “Love All Over Me” video before becoming engaged in October. The couple then tied the knot in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home on Nov. 22.
Well, once again, congrats to the happy newlyweds. –nicholas robinson
