BET’s Hit TV Series ‘The Game’ to Receive an Emmy?

Well it looks like a few of the executives over at BET are ready to run with the big dogs…the big dogs over at the Primetime Emmy Awards that is.  Thanks to the outstanding success of the hit TV series, “The Game,” BET was able to submit the show for consideration in the category for outstanding comedy series, marking the first time in the 30-year history of BET that a scripted series has been submitted into a major Emmy division. BET even submitted “The Pitsy Shuffle,” a comedic theme song for one of the main characters Jason Pitts on “The Game,” in the outstanding music and lyrics category  (OK now  BET , let’s not get beside ourselves).

 The premiere of “The Game” in January scored record ratings while outshining other more highly publicized shows like FX’s “Lights Out” and ABC’s “Off The Map.”  With the triumphant comeback of a show that fans could not literally get enough of, the network successfully answered to critical claims that  it was not being active enough in developing original scripted series and only centered on “music videos and reality shows.” Earlier this year BET also debuted “Lets Stay Together,” and is set to air a new series, “Reed Between the Lines” starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner from the iconic ‘Cosby Show’ and Tracee Ellis Ross who starred in the popular show ‘Girlfriends.’  The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards will air live, September 18 on FOX.
