Mary J. Blige and Nicki Minaj became the latest victims of illegal music downloading when a presumed collaboration between the two, “Feel Inside,” leaked online last month. And although Blige’s reps clarified that the leak was fake, Blige is now explaining that, regardless, she’s still “pissed” about the leak.
“I was pissed about the leaking of the Nicki Minaj and Mary J. Blige record, because that’s not fair and people shouldn’t do that,” Blige bluntly remarked in a recent interview with MTV News. “But I’m over it. We move on. We’re going to make more hot music.”
As reported earlier, Blige and Minaj have collaborated on a song for the “Be Without You” singer’s upcoming album, My Life II: The Journey Continues. While speaking about the album, Blige declined to share any details about which other stars would make guest appearances, but assured that fans would learn more about the record “maybe a month from now.”
Although Blige was mum about her collaborations, her songwriter, Andrea Martin, shared some details on Blige’s upcoming Nicki Minaj-assisted track.
“It was a surprise to know that Nicki Minaj jumped on the song and nobody wanted to tell me. I was like ‘What’s going on? What’s going on?’ ” Martin said. “It’s just such a great thing. I’ve always wanted to work with Mary J. Blige, and I finally got the chance to, and it was a good time for me to prove myself that I can write songs for you, baby.”
Fans shouldn’t have to wait to long to hear the track, which is slated to be one of the first singles from My Life II, with MJB’s camp already searching for a video director for the track.
