With their highly anticipated joint album, Watch The Throne, set to be released early next month, Kanye West and Jay-Z continue building up steam for the album by releasing the soulful track, “Otis,” featuring sampled vocals from soul legend Otis Redding.
The track, which samples Otis Redding’s classic 1966 cover of Irving King and Harry M. Woods, “Try A Little Tenderness,” hit the web on Wednesday night (July 20), via DJ Funkmaster Flex’s blog, to a slew of praise.
The West produced track opens with an extended intro from Redding before Jay-Z lays into the track, trading braggadocios rhymes with his Watch The Throne cohort, West.
“Photo shoot fresh, looking like wealth / I’m about to call the paparazzi on myself / Live from the Mercer / Run up on Yeezy the wrong way, I might murk ya,” raps Hov before passing the mic to a fully charged Louis Vuitton Don.
“I made Jesus walk so I’m never going to hell / Couture-level flow, it’s never going on sale / Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses / Sophisticated ignorance, I write my curses in cursive,” raps Yeezy.

Watch The Throne, which will feature appearances from Beyonce, Frank Ocean and Mr. Hudson, will be release digitally on Aug. 1 before hitting stores on Aug. 5. –nicholas robinson
