Although many NBA players may be twiddling their thumbs or racking their brains over the current NBA lockout, Lakers star Ron Artest is reportedly taking his career into his own hands and trying to line up his next prime time gig; competing on the next season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
According to TMZ, sources claim that Artest is in serious talks with the shows producers to compete on the 13th season of the celebrity competition series in September.
A major concern, though, is that if the lockout ends, Artest will have to juggle his time between the NBA and the show as the season will run until November and the NBA season typically begins in October.
However, producers are ditching their minimum rehearsal requirement due to their desire for more A-list stars.
This isn’t the first time this year that Artest has made headlines for a bizarre career move. In June, the Lakers forward revealed his upcoming reality show, “Last Second Shot,” which would help rehabilitate ex-convicts through basketball. Later that month, Artest announced that he was in the process of changing his name to Metta World Peace.
Surely, fans will find out soon enough whether Metta World Peace will be shaking a tail feather on “Dancing With the Stars.” –nicholas robinson
