Beyoncé: ‘I’ve Always Been a Jay-Z Groupie’

As one of music’s mightiest power couples, it’s no secret that megastar moguls and frequent collaborators Beyoncé and Jay-Z, are loving fans of one another. And while sitting down with the hosts of The View, on Thursday, July 28, Beyoncé explained that she’s not only a fan, but a longtime groupie for her emcee husband.

While answering questions from the hosts about her year-long hiatus from music, the 4 singer was asked about her time spent with Jay-Z on tour.

“I went on tour with him and I got to see the shows from the audience, which is something I don’t get a chance to do. I was really really inspired,” said Beyoncé before jokingly professing her admiration for her husband. “I’ve always been A Jay-Z Groupie,” which got laughter and applause from the studio audience.

Beyoncé was also asked about the “burnout” that popular artists like late singer Amy Winehouse feel under the constant pressure of stardom, prompting the “Best Thing I Never Had” singer to talk about her own struggle to maintain a sense of balance in her own hectic schedule.

“I didn’t get to really see the impact that I’ve been able to have on so many people. I would sit in award shows and they would give me an award, and I was just thinking about the next performance and never really thought about how fortunate I was. I was just on to the next project and on to the next day,” said Beyoncé. “I literally would look at the stage and that’s when I knew where I was.”

Beyoncé also discussed her upcoming role in the Clint Eastwood directed remake of A Star Is Born, gushing over the director and sharing that the search for a lead male actor in the film is still ongoing.

“We’re still trying to figure that out. That has to be someone amazing,” said Beyoncé.
