Dhani Jones thought his career in the NFL was over just a few years ago. Now in his 11th season, the defensive captain for the Cincinnati Bengals was cut by the Eagles and the Saints. With time on his hands, he trained during the off season. When the Bengals called, he was in the best shape he’d ever been in.
Now, he’s hosting his own show on the Travel Channel, “Dhani Tackles the Globe.” He also hosts “In the Zone With Dhani Jones” on Cincinnati’s CBS affiliate WKRC. Now, he has added published author to his list of occupations.
His book, The Sportsman: Unexpected Lessons From an Around the World Sports Odyssey, follows Jones into the depths of travel that ironically served to cross-train him in ways he’d never imagined, enabling him to become more grounded, globally aware, and most surprising, a much better football player. From dragon boat racing in Singapore to carrying 300-pound rocks in Iceland to biking in Italy, Jones’ adventures taught him to be tougher, smarter and stronger than ever.
