Push the highly publicized split with hubby Mark Anthony aside for a moment, and let’s talk about J.Lo’s newest clothing line for Kohl’s being featured in “The Makeover Issue” of Oprah’s O Magazine.’ Mrs. Winfrey graced the cover of her own September issue in a beautiful, gold sequined, floor length gown by designer Theia and gave J.Lo ten pages in the issue to show off her new collection.

Creative director for O Magazine, Adam Glassman, styled eight readers in O, among them a teacher, a lawyer, and a recent college graduate, in pieces from Lopez’s clothing line. Lopez says she can definitely relate to the group of ‘real women.’ “I’m a mom,” she says. “I work, I want comfort. But I want to feel sexy and modern. I think most women want the same things.”

The fall line includes jumpsuits, J.Lo’s favorite, fur jackets with accented fur collars, sheath dresses, lightweight sweaters, and sequined tops. The furs and sequins give J.Lo’s line a lot of glam for an affordable price, while still looking polished and chic. She stresses that her collection only consists of pieces that she’d actually wear herself, and that she has stayed involved in every step of the process.

According to Lopez, it’s the real women wearing her collections’ opinions that matter the most. “This is the fulfilling part – to have women tell me, “This is comfortable, it fits so well.”

We wish J.Lo and her new line the best. The collection will be in Kohl’s department stores in September 2011 and the September issue of O Magazine will be on stands August 9th. —mckenzie harris
