Teairra Mari Apologizes for DUI, Denies Assaulting Police

R&B singer Teairra Mari found herself locked behind bars, last Friday, Aug. 19, after she was arrested in Beverly Hills for drunk driving and allegedly assaulting a police officer. Since then, Mari has been released from jail is now apologizing for the DUI and claiming that she never assaulted any cops.

According to The Boombox, Mari was released last Friday afternoon on $50,000 bail. After her release, the Division 1 singer released a statement apologizing for her actions behind the wheel.

“Let me start by saying that this is a very embarrassing moment for me, I know that I’ve disappointed so many people including myself. I take full responsibility for my actions,” said Mari.

The singer, who was accused of becoming “combative” with an arresting officer and even giving one a “minor cut” on the hand, denied that she became violent with officers.

“…I absolutely did NOT ‘attack’ a Beverly Hills police officer and I’m very confused by those allegations,” explained Mari.

Mari did, however, admit to being too intoxicated to drive and explained that she hopes her mistake can influence others to think twice before being drunk behind the wheel.

“I did have drinks and I misjudged the situation by driving myself home. I want to apologize to those that I endangered that night and also to the people that I’ve let down,” said Mari. “I hope that this situation can save someone from making the dumb decision to drink and drive!” –nicholas robinson
