Franklin Beauty School (FBS) and the National Empowerment Group Inc. (NEG) held their second annual free “Girls Glam 2011,” a self-esteem and back-to-school event for girls ages 9 to 17.
FBS partnered with the NEG to provide free hairstyles including relaxers, flat irons, braids, and marcel press and curls. The Girls Glam 2011 event is the kickoff for NEG’s “Girls on the Move” program, which focuses on improving the academic, personal and leadership skills, increasing the number of high school graduates and boosting college enrollment.
The annual event is sponsored by FBS owner and Houston community leader Ron Jemison Jr. in partnership with national blogger and talk radio host Dr. Wendy Johnson of the National Empowerment Group Inc.
