Katt Williams Defends Rant Against Mexicans

Katt Williams’ life continues to unfold like a weekly soap opera. The troubled comedian made headlines, again, because of a rant against Mexicans during a recent show in Arizona.

In the viral video, Williams said to a heckler, “You think I’m dissing Mexico and I’m defending America. Are you Mexican? Do you know where Mexico is? No, this ain’t Mexico, it used to be Mexico, and now it’s Phoenix, USA! USA! [Expletive] think they can live in this country and pledge allegiance to another country. Do you remember when white people used to say go back to Africa? …  So if you love Mexico, get the [expletive] over there!”

Days after the rant garnered thousands of hits on YouTube, an apology released by Williams’ publicist was released.

However, Williams appeared on CNN claiming that he never apologized for his rant and defended his comedy act.

“I meant what I said and I said what I meant,” Williams said. “I don’t think I need to apologize for being pro-American. If a person starts their heckling with ‘f—‘ America, then that gives me the right to defend my country. If I had disrespected Mexicans, I wouldn’t have been able to get out of there alive.”

Williams has dealt with several awkward situations this past summer. He was booed and removed from his own comedy show in Ontario, Calif.; he was removed from a Young Jeezy concert in Phoenix after being involved in a brawl; and he was arrested in Palmdale, Calif., after a heated exchange with a tractor driver. –amir shaw
