September 11, 2001 aka 9/11 was a tragic day for the United States of America. Many lives were lost – nearly 3000 – and more than 6000 were injured. On that day, Al Qaeda hijackers, led by their now deceased leader, Osama Bin Laden, used four commercial jets to send a message to our country that would reverberate forever. Assuming the role of suicide attackers, the group of Al-Qaeda terrorists chose US targets in New York and Washington, DC (World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Arlington, VA), symbolic of our strength, to fly those jets into and commit mass murder in the name of a “holy war.”
The effects were devastating and will never be forgotten.
Today is the 10th anniversary of the attacks, which is likely to conjure up memories of where your were and what you were doing when it happened, as well as how you were personally impacted. Please take a moment to share your 9/11 story as a way to commemorate the day, pay respect to those whose lives were lost, and honor those who helped in any way in the grueling search and rescue mission.
