Nick and Mariah's Twins Will 'Absolutely Not' Be Entertainers

If Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s twins, Moroccan and Monroe, decide they want to be like mom and dad when they grow up, there’s going to  be trouble in the Cannon mansion.

According to their famous dad, a career in entertainment is just not in the cards for his kids. “I just want them to strive for something greater than entertainment,” Cannon told PEOPLE backstage after the September 14 season finale of America’s Got Talent. “I’m one of those believers in teachers, professors, heart surgeons. That’s what I’m rooting for. If I could get a scientist, that’d be amazing.”

Though he doesn’t want “The Industry” to be a career choice for his offspring, he insists he and his wife are perfect for it–and for each other.

“My wife is so understanding because she’s just as busy and just as focused as I am, so it’s kind of like the perfect match,” he said. “I love my career and I love being in entertainment, so it never really feels like an occupation.”

Nick and Mariah's Twins Will 'Absolutely Not' Be EntertainersThough early Internet commentary about the Cannon – Carey marriage included a lot of negative speculation and accusations that it was one big publicity stunt, time has revealed that these two are truly devoted to one another, and to their 4 1/2 month-old twins. “Being a father and being a husband comes first,” says Canon. “Everybody knows I’m obsessed with my wife. I’m married to Mariah Carey. It doesn’t get better than that. I’d be an idiot to do anything wrong. I worship my wife. Have you seen my back? My back says ‘Mariah Forever.'”
