What prompted you to start doing music?
I’ve grown up around music my whole life and was brought up in the church choir but after the passing of my aunt/choir director, who I was extremely close to, I decided to get over my fears and shyness by just going for it.
Describe your sound, look and what makes you unique in the populated pool of singers out there?
My sound is pop soul. I think when people hear my music, initially, they’re like “oh this sounds cool” but when they really give it a listen they realize it’s very soulful. What makes me different is that I am literally baring my soul. It’s not overly poetic, it’s not overly simplified. it’s a lot of different sounds all based around soul.
Name some of the people you’ve collaborated with?
I’ve worked with hip hop artists like Propain, Preemo, DJ CandleStick of the Niceguys, producers like Steve-O and Happy Perez, Fatboi, Beanz & Kornbread, The Institute, Speez, Chris Rockaway and lots of different folks. It’s a great group of guys because some are award winning, platinum certified, buzz makers, and vets of the game but they’re all supportive of my sound and the type of work that I’m trying to put out into the world.
What projects do you have in the works?
Promoting my international single “Love Thing” produced by Robert Bilbilov of Macedonia. We just wrapped the video, I’m doing shows and as well as trying to wrap up my album.
How do you hope to contribute to the music industry with your work?
I hope to contribute more originality. We have plenty of unique artists out there and I just want to bring my art to the scene. I want to touch the people that have been though the different experiences that I have. I tell people all of the time I was shy, nerdy, a product of the public school system, a college student, a worker in corporate America and a dreamer. I can bring all sorts of perspective into the industry because usually people like myself are written off easily but I’m here, working towards my dream and doing it my way.
