Clearly, Lil Wayne doesn’t take kindly to threats. After rap legend Uncle Luke warned hip-hop heavyweights Diddy, Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled to stop “freeloading” in his hometown of Miami, last week, Weezy has now fired back at the 2 Live Crew veteran’s threats.
Like any media savvy artist, Wayne recently took to Twitter to respond to Luke and even threw barbs at Khaled as well.
“This n—a Luke trippin!!!” Wayne tweeted on Oct. 11. “I ain’t feelin Khaled rite [sic] now either.”
While it’s unclear as to why Lil Tunechi isn’t on good terms with former pal Khaled, his words for Luke were easily expected after the Magic City ambassador slammed him and his non-native cohorts for living a luxe Miami life without contributing to the city’s community needs.
“I’ve got a message for Lil Wayne, his Cash Money Brothers, DJ Khaled, Puff Daddy and all the rappers from other parts of the country who now live in Miami,” Luke wrote in an open letter to the Miami New Times. “I’m tired of seeing these cats using up our beaches, soaking up our sunshine, taking over the nightclubs, and sleeping with our women without investing anything into the community.
“I want to know when Lil Wayne is going to do more than show up courtside at the American Airlines Arena,” Luke continued. “H-ll, it’s not like he paid for them anyway. You know he got comped. This free loading and mooching of my city has got to stop. There used to be a day when out of town rappers were scared to throw their weight around Miami. It didn’t matter if they were coming from New York or Los Angeles, they knew better than to act like they owned this mother f—er.”
Though this predicament is clearly far from over, perhaps it would be best if Luke, Wayne and Khaled (and Diddy if he decides to get involved), settle their differences offline or even joined forces in some Miami community effort and call it a day. –nicholas robinson
