Drake Reveals True Story Behind Rihanna, Nicki Minaj Relationship Rumors

If hip-hop were a high school, new school leader Drake would unquestionably be the sensitive, cool kid amongst a sea of roughneck B-boys. And while the tough guys were busy penning school love letters to their own bling and bravado, Drake has always settled for soft and pure honesty, penning heartfelt lyrics of love wanted, love gained and love lost in his music.

With such a heart-on-his-sleeve mentality, it comes as no surprise that Drake has felt his fair share of heartbreak, and in his latest interview with fashion bible ELLE, the Canadian heartthrob candidly recounts his brief love affair with hot girl Rihanna, his undying love for fellow Young Money emcee Nicki Minaj and his never ending search for true love.

Speaking about his brief fling with Rihanna, Drake, in true form, lets down his walls and reveals that he was heartbroken by the Bajan beauty once their whirlwind romance came crashing to a halt.

“At the time it hurt, but she didn’t mean to. I’ll never put that on her. I was hurt because I started to slowly realize what it was. I guess I thought it was more. That was the first girl with any fame that paid me any mind. You spend days reading about this person in the magazines. All of a sudden you have this number-one song and you’re at some birthday party and there she is. And you’re just some naive kid from Toronto staying in some s——a– hotel who got invited to this party on a whim. That’s just how it happened.”

Though things didn’t work out with Rihanna, Drake talks about his fake Twitter marriage with Minaj and explains that if love were to work out for him, it would be with his “Moment 4 Life” partner.

“I don’t know if we were really pretending. I’d marry Nicki. I think Nicki would be one of the only people that would understand me at the end of all this and be able to love me.”

Drake’s love for Minaj may be unrequited but one would think that the Young Money superstar has his fair share of women to soothe his lonely soul. But according to “Marvin’s Room” emcee, endless nights of sexual flings can become just as bed as going home alone.

“I used to be filling a void. There was a point where I felt like I needed to keep the company of a woman every night,” said Drake. “When you’re on the road and moving city to city, when someone isn’t there at the end of the night, you feel empty. The 15 or 20 seconds after a man reaches his climax is the realest moment he’ll ever have in his life. And if you happen to be with somebody that isn’t someone you want to converse with, you start feeling like, I wish I was just here watching True Blood by myself.”

Drake may be having a hard time finding love but we sure are mesmerized listening to a man who seemingly has it all to confess his desire for more than just fame and fly-by-night of fun. And who knows? Perhaps one day soon he’ll be waxing poetically about catching True Blood with his one true love, and we’d sure be delighted if it turned out to be his favorite Harajuku Barbie, Minaj. – nicholas robinson
