Bajan pop princess Rihanna has been on a whirlwind run traveling across the globe for her popular “Loud” tour and preparing for the release of her upcoming album, Talk That Talk. But things came to a screeching halt this past Halloween when the singer canceled a tour date in Sweden after being struck with a case of the flu.
Just hours before Rihanna was supposed to hit the stage in Malmo, tour promoter Live Nation announced that they were canceling the show, saying that the singer was “not in any condition to conduct the concert.”
Shortly after, Rihanna, who’d been hospitalized, apologized to her #RihannaNavy fans via Twitter with a post that read, “Sorry Malmo!!! #LOUDtour.” The tweet also featured a photo of the singer in her hospital room with an IV in her arm.
Though many were left wondering why Rihanna had been hospitalized, the singer later released a statement revealing to fans that she’d come down with a case of the flu, according to W.E.N.N.
“I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo, Switzerland,” Rihanna said. “I was so excited to perform for you all. It would have been a great time … so much better than being sick with the flu, ugh! I’m really disappointed I couldn’t be there.”
While Swedish fans may have missed out on their Rihanna Halloween treat last night, Live Nation says that they plan on rescheduling the show for an unknown date and will honor tickets from the canceled show.
Considering Rihanna’s spunky attitude, we’re sure she’ll back on stage and in foreign sex shops in no time. –nicholas robinson
