The dark bold lip is sexy, daring and mysterious. It can be tricky to apply, but looks amazing when done correctly.
Between mastering the ability to color inside the lines, getting the pigments to last, and of course not hitting your teeth, the dark lip can be quite daunting. Here are some tips and tricks to pulling it off like a pro. –mckenzie harris
Step 1:
Make sure to start out with hydrated lips. Dark colors emphasize any cracks or rough surfaces. Brush over lips with a soft baby toothbrush and coat with Vaseline or Rosebud Salve. Use a lip liner that is similar but not exact to the lip color, (the darker the liner, the darker the lip).
Tip: If you have uneven lip tones (i.e. your top lip is darker than your bottom lip or visa versa) lightly dab some concealer over your lips and let it set to give you an even layer to build off of.
Step 2:
Line lips and blend the liner, then soften the line by using the your finger or a lip brush.
Step 3:
Stipple the selected color on using your finger.
Step 4:
Dust a light layer of translucent powder to set the color.
Step 5:
Apply one more layer of color with your finger.
Step 6:
Keep the rest of your face polished and relatively neutral, with your lips being the main focus. Add a bit of shine to the eye for balance or a subtle cat eye with liquid liner for a little more drama.
