How did you get started in Hollywood?
I always had an interest in being involved in film. My mother was a jingle singer in Chicago. She had personal contact with several casting directors. I started off doing print ads and commercials. I later auditioned for films and I got my first film which was called The Long Walk Home with Whoopi Goldberg. I also worked as the singing voice of Young Simba on Lion King.

Why is it important for black actors to remain positive in Hollywood?
There are a set of struggles. Sometimes you hear no more than you hear yes.  I’m a believer in hard work no matter what is being placed in my face. If you believe in something, you do whatever it takes to get it. Unfortunately, black actors in Hollywood are forced to to create their own opportunities to remain in the business.

What can fans expect from your music project, Sons of Bobby Brown?
My partner Sky and I were making music that sounded as if we were rebels when it comes to this R&B. Because that’s what Bobby was. He was authentic. He would go against the grain, and that translated well to the audience. So that’s why we call ourselves Sons of Bobby Brown, because we feel we’re carrying on that legacy of presenting music that’s drenched in soul.

How do you want to be remembered as an entertainer?
I want people to know that I took the talent that I was blessed with and did something with it. I was able to help people and provide opportunities for others.
