According to espn.com the Los Angeles Clippers have no intention of resuming trade talks for the most sought after free agent this off season.
Though some Internet reports speculated that a deal could still happen, the Clippers remain unwilling to include shooting guard Eric Gordon in the trade package. The proposed trade would have All-Star guard Chris Paul going to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for guard Eric Bledsoe, forward Al-Farouq Aminu, center Chris Kaman and a first-round draft pick.
With the Clippers backing out, the Hornets are running out of possible teams to trade for Paul, who again participated in the Hornets’ training camp Tuesday despite his uncertain future with the franchise.
“The New Orleans Hornets brought us a proposal and it was significant,” Neil Olshey, vice president of basketball operations for the Clippers. “We basically analyzed it and based on the components involved, we just felt like the best interest of the team is to keep this roster intact, keep our long term flexibility, our draft picks and all of our assets together to continue to build with the model we have constructed over the last few years. Right now, there’s nothing on the table that will make us change our minds.”
