Will Larkin Launched His Clothing Business With Only $100; How He Did It

Tall, dark and tattooed, clothier Will Larkin, 34, could easily model the clothes that he creates.

The ruggedly handsome businessman, who describes his own style as, “edgy and urban with a European feel,” caught the fashion bug eight years ago, and he launched his business with only $100!

“I don’t know how I got into it, to be honest, I just kind of fell into it,” Larkin tells rolling out. “I taught myself how to sew on the sewing machine. I don’t have the formal training that a lot of designers have. I bought clothes from a thrift store, took them apart, and I learned how to put them back together. I started off with jeans and then leather, because I like outerwear.”

Today the Larkin store has various high-end looks that bears the Larkin brand.

“I made everything in the store. I handmade everything, so there’s just one or two of a kind, in the store.”

Whatever you do, don’t refer to the Larkin store as a boutique. “We are a brand, not a boutique,” he clarifies.  “The only thing we sell in here is Larkin and everything, even the tee shirts, has to be top quality.”

Larkin built his brand with tee-shirts and a very modest amount of seed capital.
