Connecting with the masses: Both men are brilliant orators who used their command of the English language to captivate the public imagination. But while Clinton was able to endear himself with the average American, Obama seems detached, distant and aloof and carries himself with the air of an unaffected college professor lecturing on world politics. We know that Obama can make emotional connections with his words; that’s how he attained national fame and became a rock star back in 2004. He needs to unearth that quality for 2012.
