The “American Idol” champ, was dubbed the “Velvet Teddy Bear” for his smooth vocals and oversized frame back during the heyday of his career. And while the title may be cute, what wasn’t cute was Studdard’s weight struggles. After taking the “American Idol” crown in 2003, Studdard gained nearly 100 pounds, tipping the scales at over 450 pounds. But in 2010, Studdard revealed a new slimmed-down frame, attributing his weight loss to healthier lifestyle choices, including becoming a vegan.
