'Joyful Noise' Brings Together Generations

Three generations of beautiful women celebrated Valencia Barnes’ movie debut.

A joyful noise was made at the first private screening in Atlanta for the Warner Brother’s production Joyful Noise starring Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer and Dolly Parton. The smiling faces of families, friends, and media waited anxiously in line hours before the premiere while sweatshirts and movie posters were given out to the first moviegoers.


Valencia Barnes, a 13-year-old actress who played a role in the youth choir, shared her experiences being in her first movie role while her proud mother and grandmother listened in. Valencia was extremely excited and proud of the cast and inspired by the industry veterans who played a role in the film

Released in theaters on Jan. 13, 2012, Joyful Noise grossed over $11 million in its opening weekend.
