The complimentary tasty dishes ranged from pina colada tilapia, to spicy tofu. There were no judges, because it wasn’t a cooking competition per se, nevertheless, that didn’t stop B. Brown from proclaiming that he was the winner: “There was no question,” B. Brown told rolling out. The confident cook prepared Chicago-style gumbo and black eyed peas — with an undisclosed meat base.

Perhaps the coolest thing about the House of Trend is the Swap Soiree located in the rear of the store, where gently worn high-end clothes and accessories are for sale; we found a pair of red Manolo Blahniks that were priced at $30!
