If you have some free time on Jan. 30, the president has invited you to attend a live video chat with him via Google+ Hangout in which he will answer viewer questions about the State of the Union address he is slated to deliver on Jan. 24 at 9 p.m. EST.
“In the first completely-virtual interview from the White House, President Obama will answer questions that have been submitted by Americans from across the country via YouTube,” the White House said in a statement announcing the event. “Some of the people who submitted questions will even be invited to join the president in the Hangout and take part in the live conversations.”
The Google+ Hangout is part of the White House’s ongoing effort to incorporate social media into the White House’s communications outreach.
“The President is committed to creating a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration,” the White House said, adding the chat will be “the first in a series of White House Hangouts that will cover a range of topics and issues.”
Through Jan. 28 you can visit the White House YouTube channel to submit your video and text questions and vote on your favorite submissions. Your YouTube questions will drive the interview, and several participants with top-voted questions will be selected to join the president in the Google+ Hangout to take part in the conversation live. –kathleen cross
