Wall Street Project Attendees Tell Why They Support Jesse Jackson, What They Learned

Lauren Breland, Harlem, N.Y.:

“I am volunteering because my girlfriend, Maxine Lewis, always volunteered for me, and she said ‘we need you down here this year.’  I have found it to be an incredibly enlightening experience. I didn’t come for networking, but I have worked the ‘net.

One of the most beneficial things that I learned is about the sports forum. I found out that alumni cannot work with the young football players when they are attending the university because it’s a conflict of interest. An alumnus can’t even buy them a meal. But where are the supports coming from when they are transitioning from home into college. With all of these responsibilities, they need a mentor, a lead and they need a God.”
