Drake Finally Responds to Common Diss

Since the feud between rappers Common and Drake erupted in lyrical flames earlier this month, Drake has remained mum on the issue. However, Common has been rather verbal about the issue and even claimed that he’s ready to end the beef now. Apparently, the beef is dead to Drake, too. In his latest interview with Nah Right, Drake says that Common’s infamous “Stay Schemin” diss track was just a “ploy for attention” on Common’s part and that he won’t be responding to it.

“No. Because despite how it’s been worded by him that situation is not a “hip-hop moment” or a “battle for the sake of musical integrity,” Drake said. “It’s a ploy for attention around the release of an album.”

Drake continued, “More than anything it was just disappointing; cause what kid isn’t a fan of what Common has done for our genre? A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story.”

Aside from Common, Drake also drew fire from many fans and peers over his “Stay Schemin” line about Kobe Bryant’s divorce from his wife, Vanessa Bryant. “Kobe ‘bout to lose a hundred fifty M’s/ Kobe my ni—a I hate it had to be him/ B—ch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym,” raps Drake. But Drake explains that he meant no harm with his lyrics.

“That line came from a conversation about being this young and making this much money and the fear of losing it all,” Drake explained. “I just used his potential situation to address my own life. I never intended to offend Vanessa or anyone else. That line had everything to do with me and what goes on in my head as a 25-year-old man with this much income flowing in.”

Though, this short-lived beef between Drake and Common has thrilled us, we must admit that the fact that these two rappers being at odds with each other has left us scratching our heads, wondering, “why?” But they aren’t the only artists who’ve been in head-scratching beefs.
