Singer Whitney Houston died from an accidental drowning after using cocaine, the Los Angeles County coroner s office said Thursday.
Heart disease was also a factor in her death, the coroner said. The official cause was “drowning” and “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.”
Her death was ruled an accident, with no trauma or foul play suspected.
A toxicology report said Houston had several other drugs in her system, including marijuana, Benadryl and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax, but they “did not contribute to the death.”
