The Mega Millions lottery proved that Americans have the ability to spend billions only when it comes to the possibility of self-fulfillment. The nation went into a frenzy after it was announced that the lottery jackpot was $640 million.

Lottery officials revealed that Mega Millions hopefuls spent $1.5 billion for a chance  to become wealthy.


Although there were three winners nationwide, the millions who played remain in the same financial predicament. Instead of spending more than one billion dollars on the lottery, Americans could have pooled money together for a better purpose.
